After setting up your company/product/brand landing page, which should at least be a sign up page, it’s time to dip your feet in. If you haven’t already done so, we suggest you start a personal twitter account so you can view your landing page as one of your customers. This enables you to look at the businesses you are already interacting with, as well as your competition.
It’s quite simple to set up a Twitter Account. You just fire up your favorite browser and navigate to //www.twitter.com which takes you to their landing page. You’ll see two white squares on the right hand side of the page. The first is for existing Twitter account holders to log in. The one below it is for those who are new to Twitter. Create a new account by filling out your full name, email address and password. Then underneath that, there is a yellow button labeled “Sign up for Twitter.” Click on this button. A new sign up page will appear and you simply fill in your details. You are now up and running with Twitter.
If you want to sign up for a Facebook account, simply navigate over to//www.facebook.com and it’s just as easy to signup. On their landing page, simply fill out your first name, last name, and email address, and choose the sex you are. One required field that you must fill out with Facebook is your birth date because Facebook protects minors and blocks some content/pages for those underage. It’s a really good things too because people do post some disturbing content sometimes. Click on Sign up and you have a Facebook account.
Both Twitter and Facebook will take you step-by-step through any optional services like setting up your profile etc. Take some time to familiarize yourself with these services and begin “Friending” people you may know. Or, search for people or companies you’d like to follow who may interest you. When you first open your account, the programs leads you through ways to find people/friends you may know who are already on Facebook.
If you find this process overwhelming, relax. You don’t have to worry about going through the rigmarole and getting it right alone.
